About PyrAscend

A university project by students of Hanze University of Applied Sciences, built around adventure, motorcycles and self-guided offroad travel.

PyrAscend is developed by students of Hanze University of Applied Sciences as part of the minor Sport and Adventure Tourism. Within this university project, the goal is to design and develop a self-guided offroad motorcycle route concept through the Pyrenees.

The project is carried out by Teun, a Facility Management student, and Thijn, an Entrepreneurship and Retail Management student. Both have a strong connection with adventure, motorcycles and outdoor travel. That personal interest forms the foundation of PyrAscend: a route concept built around the kind of experience they would want to ride themselves.

The minor gives the opportunity to develop a real adventure tourism concept from the ground up. Instead of only working with theory, PyrAscend allows us to research, plan, test and present a complete concept. This includes route development, GPX navigation, field testing, risk assessment, branding, content creation, website design, SEO and social media communication.

During the project, the focus is not only on creating a route, but also on understanding how an adventure concept can be positioned, explained and made useful for other riders. This means combining practical field experience with digital presentation, clear information and a realistic view of what riders need before starting the route.

The long-term ambition behind PyrAscend is to gain the experience needed to eventually build and run an adventure-focused company. The dream is to create concepts where motorcycles, remote landscapes, practical route information and real adventure come together.

PyrAscend is therefore both a university project and a practical step toward that ambition. It combines personal passion with professional development and turns an idea into a structured, useful and accessible adventure product.
