Day 5

Day 5: The Grand Final

What to expect?

The final stage begins with steep climbs, muddy trails, and technical terrain that immediately set a demanding tone for the day. These early sections rise sharply through forested slopes and uneven ground, creating a challenging warm‑up before the route settles into a different rhythm. Once the initial climbing is completed, the track transitions into a long, flatter descent where the terrain opens up and speeds increase significantly. This part of the route is fast and flowing, though occasional 4×4 traffic may appear on the wider gravel sections.

Before the track returns to pavement, a river crossing marks a brief but memorable moment in the landscape. The water level varies throughout the season, adding a small element of unpredictability to the passage. After this crossing, the route climbs again into the final offroad zone of the expedition. These upper sections combine fast ascending trails, broad mountain viewpoints, and the possibility of encountering wild horses grazing freely across the open slopes. Additional river crossings and muddy descents appear as the track winds through the last stretches of natural terrain.

As the elevation gradually drops, the mountains open toward the valley of Sort. The descent becomes smoother, the terrain stabilizes, and the sense of nearing the end of the expedition grows with each kilometer. The stage concludes by rolling into Sort, marking the final destination of the journey and the end of the route’s offroad adventure.
